I agreed to do Nanowrimo - writing 50,000 words on a novel in November. Not sure why I did it. I have been thinking about it (a little) but, as with many things at the moment that involve sitting at my computer, I am struggling with motivation, application, drive, awakeness...
Probably all that time away from a screen, spent on a beach or near a pool or just lapping up that gorgeous Queensland sun.
I think I should try hard to stay away from my computer for anything but work. I think this is also a chance to reduce the amount of coffee I drink.

In Clancy of the Overflow, the 1889 poem by A.B.'Banjo'Paterson, the central character receives a letter which he thinks was "written with a thumbnail dipped in tar". Thumbnail is a writing business based on the premise that communicating the message is the essence, using means necessary or available, even a thumbnail dipped in tar.
